Accurate face recognition in real-world conditions

Faces are accurately recognized from different angles and under various conditions - including glasses, hats, make-up, or changes in clothing.
For best accuracy, the same person needs to appear in at least 2–5 images, depending on the overall size of the gallery.
Analysis speed depends on factors such as the number of images, how many faces are visible throughout the gallery, and other conditions. Smaller galleries are typically processed within a few minutes, while larger galleries may take several dozen minutes.

Image to text (OCR)

Feature

Search photos by bib number or name

Files.fm AI uses OCR technology to read visible text in images - including bib numbers, names, signs, badges, labels and other visible text.
Simply type a word or number to instantly find all related photos, even across thousands of images.
Ideal for sports events, races, conferences, exhibitions, archives, and document-heavy photo collections.

Feature

OCR across industries and use cases

In sports events, OCR helps identify what’s in each image – participant names, vehicle numbers, and sponsor logos. In conferences and archives, it’s used to extract text from presentations or printed documents. In everyday work, OCR makes it easy to quickly get information from receipts, invoices, contracts, and other documents.
Text recognition works reliably across different angles, lighting conditions, and partial visibility, as long as the text is visible in the image.
Why it matters: OCR speeds up photo discovery and increases the value of large galleries by making them easier to search, browse, and manage - without manual tagging.

Auto tags and description

Feature

Automatically tag photos - no manual work

Files.fm AI analyzes image content and automatically adds relevant tags based on detected objects and visual context. This makes your photo library fully searchable without manual work.
You can also add tags manually for single files, selected groups, or entire galleries. As you type, the system suggests existing tags to keep tagging fast and consistent.
Smart tags improve search accuracy, speed up workflows, and help manage large photo collections, media libraries, and digital assets more efficiently.

Generate clear, searchable image descriptions automatically

Files.fm AI automatically creates meaningful image descriptions that explain what’s visible, add valuable context, and improve searchability across your library.
Descriptions help you find images faster and make large galleries easier to manage.
All descriptions are fully editable - if you want to adjust an automatically generated description, you can do so freely. Existing metadata remains unchanged - if a description was already added before, AI will not overwrite it.

Files.fm GPT

In addition to image-based AI tools, Files.fm AI also simplifies working with documents. With the AI Document Assistant, you can literally chat with your document to ask questions about contract key points, find specific details in invoices, generate summaries and translate content in seconds.

FAQ

How accurate is Files.fm face recognition?

Files.fm AI can recognize faces from different angles and in various conditions - with glasses, hats, makeup, or changed clothing. For a person to be reliably recognized, their face needs to appear in multiple photos, depending on the size of the gallery:

  • Up to 50 files - the person must appear in at least 2 photos
  • up to 500 files - at least 3 photos,
  • up to 1000 files - at least 4 photos,
  • for more than 1000 files - at least 5 photos.

Why are some faces not recognized?

If a person isn’t recognized, it usually means their face doesn’t appear in enough photos. For AI to reliably identify someone, their face needs to appear in at least 2–5 photos, depending on the size of the gallery.

Are my photos used to train AI models?

No. Files.fm AI processes your images only within your account, and they are not used to train public AI models. Your data stays completely secure.

Is face recognition GDPR-compliant?

Yes. Our AI features are designed with data protection regulations in mind, and you have full control over which photos are processed.

Can I edit or delete AI-generated tags and descriptions?

Yes. You can always modify, delete, or customize AI-generated tags and descriptions to suit your needs. Tags and descriptions can be edited or removed for each file individually.

Will AI overwrite my existing metadata?

No. AI adds new tags and descriptions to your existing information but does not delete or overwrite anything.

Which formats are supported?

Currently, Files.fm AI supports the most common image formats: JPG and PNG. The AI Document Assistant works with DOCX, PDF, and TXT files. The range of supported formats will continue to expand.
